Julie Monot<\/strong>\u2019s artistic practice spans sculpture, installation, and performance, exploring cultural, social, symbolic, and mythological codes and constructions of bodies and figures within Western culture. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the Kl\u00f6ntal Triennale, she employs enigmatic props and costumes crafted from denim reminiscent of those once produced at the Legler Areal. Utilizing prostheses, Monot animates her figures and objects within an installation crafted from transparent textiles shaped like a hut. These ethereal guardians will bring the ghosts of the Legler Areal back to life during the Triennale. This mixed-media installation entitled HUT<\/em> will be activated on August 31 by a performance of the same name, in which the various spirits of the place will be conjured. The atmosphere of industrialization, transformation, and the work of women returns to this space of the former spinning mill, while the musician L\u00e9onore Brunner will lend it the rhythm of her very own sound world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Julie Monot<\/strong> (*1978, CH, lives in Lausanne) earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in visual art from HEAD (Geneva) in 2017 and a master\u2019s degree from ECAL (Lausanne) in 2019. Her work has been showcased in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including at MAH Geneva, Parcours \u2013 Art Basel, Cabaret Voltaire (Zurich), MUMOK (Vienna), and Bass Museum of Art (Miami). She is currently a resident artist at Arsenic in Lausanne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

F\u00fcr die Kl\u00f6ntal Triennale verwendet sie geheimnisvolle Requisiten, Kost\u00fcme \u2013 etwa aus Jeansstoff, wie er einst im Legler Areal hergestellt wurde \u2013 sowie Prothesen, um ihren Figuren und Objekten Leben einzuhauchen. In einer Installation aus transparenten Textilien in der Form einer H\u00fctte beleben diese fiktiven, geisterhaften W\u00e4chter das Legler Areal im Rahmen der Kl\u00f6ntal Triennale.

<\/span>Diese Mixed-Media-Installation mit dem Titel \u00abHUT\u00bb wird am 31. August durch eine gleichnamige Performance aktiviert, in der die verschiedenen Geister des Ortes heraufbeschw\u00f6rt werden. Die Atmosph\u00e4re von Industrialisierung, Transformation und die Arbeit von Frauen kehrt in diesen Raum der ehemaligen Spinnerei zur\u00fcck, w\u00e4hrend die Musikerin L\u00e9onore Brunner ihm den Rhythmus ihrer ganz eigenen Klangwelt verleiht.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n

Julie Monot (*1978, CH, lebt in Lausanne) absolvierte 2017 einen Bachelor in Visuellen K\u00fcnsten an der HEAD Genf und 2019 einen Master in Visuellen K\u00fcnsten an der ECAL (Lausanne). Ihre Arbeit wurde in mehreren Einzel- und Gruppenausstellungen performt und ausgestellt, u. a. im MAH Genf, Parcours Art Basel, Cabaret Voltaire (Z\u00fcrich), MUMOK (Wien), Bass Museum of Art Miami. Derzeit ist sie f\u00fcr drei Jahre Residentin am Arsenic in Lausanne. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
